Feedback from sessions

Farah Azura M.

Cheras, Kuala Lumpur

"I had been putting off writing to my internet provider for about four months. The session helped me get the letter right in one go — the assistant was straightforward about what the letter should say and what I should not include. I sent it the next day."

"My mother attended the digital skills course because she was having trouble with her EPF portal registration. By the third session she had done it herself on the loaner tablet. The workbook is still on her coffee table. She refers to it when she gets stuck."

Wangsa Maju, KL

"I was not sure whether Openhand Atlas could help — my situation was a bit complicated and I did not know how to frame it. The assistant was honest that parts of it were outside their scope and pointed me to the right body for those parts. For the letter itself, it was well structured and I felt confident sending it."

Sentul, Kuala Lumpur

"The digital skills course covered exactly what I needed — submitting the JPN online forms and scanning documents. I had been going to the counter in person for everything. I missed one session due to work and they let me catch up in the drop-in hour. Small group made a real difference."

Lim Mei Ling

Bukit Bintang, KL

"I found the session useful even though my situation turned out to be simpler than I thought. The assistant helped me see that I did not actually need a formal complaint letter — just a clear email to the customer service department with the right reference number attached. Saved me a lot of worry."

Mohd Hafiz Z.

Setapak, Kuala Lumpur

"Our residents' association used the neighbourhood mapping service after we realised we did not have a proper record of the services available in our area. The final map went up in the community hall and we have had more enquiries from residents than in the previous two years combined."

Detailed accounts of how specific clients used our services, including what they started with and what they left with.

CASE 01 · CORRESPONDENCE SUPPORT

Utility billing dispute — residential customer, Pandan Indah

July 2025

SITUATION

Client had received a billing correction notice from her utility provider that she felt did not reflect her actual usage. She had called the customer line twice without resolution and did not know what to write or where to send a formal follow-up.

SESSION

In the 75-minute session, the assistant helped her organise her three most relevant documents, draft a clear account of the discrepancy, and identify the correct written feedback channel for her provider. One revision was made to the opening paragraph after the session.

OUTCOME

Client left with a complete letter and a printed checklist of submission options. She submitted within a week. She reported back that the provider acknowledged receipt and initiated a review. Openhand Atlas had no further involvement.

CASE 02 · DIGITAL SKILLS COURSE

Retired couple from Damansara — attending together

August 2025

SITUATION

A couple in their late sixties enrolled together as their adult children had moved abroad and could no longer assist with online government portals, EPF renewals, and utility submissions. Neither had used email independently before.

PROGRAMME

Both attended all eight sessions. Loaner tablets were used throughout. By week three they had each created an email account, scanned their MyKad using their smartphone, and registered on MyGov. The workbook was completed in full by both participants.

OUTCOME

Both attended the follow-up drop-in hour to confirm they had submitted a form independently. They reported that their main remaining question was about a specific portal login error — which was resolved in the drop-in session.

CASE 03 · NEIGHBOURHOOD MAPPING

Residents' association — Taman Melati area, 320 households

July–August 2025

SITUATION

The residents' association had been referring residents verbally to various local services for years, but had no written record of locations, hours, or contact details. Volunteers gave inconsistent information and the committee wanted a shared, reliable reference.

ENGAGEMENT

Over six weeks: three stakeholder interviews with committee members, field visits to 24 local resource sites, production of A2 map and digital PDF, printable directory, and a half-day briefing for eight committee members and three regular volunteers.

OUTCOME

The map was installed in the community hall and distributed as a printed insert in the August newsletter. The committee reported a marked increase in enquiries from residents who had seen the map and asked for directions to listed resources. The update template has been used once since handover.
